It‘s Time to Jump! Jump 2
Chapter 1: Back between Jumps
As
I entered through a portal into the world in-between, my bag full of
Pokeballs and various other bits and pieces, I suddenly felt myself
shrink by almost a foot, my hat now dangling off my head as I
involuntarily returned to the form of a 9 year old child.
Yellow’s
mind and personality seemed to recede into the back of my own, there
but no longer as strong an
influence on me, though I was still a girl, still identified as a
female, and Oh Boy, did I have new experiences.
Looking
around I realized that I
now stood in an empty building that looked like a large, empty
warehouse of some sort. I
could see just a weird machine at the center, I’m not sure about
that one. “Heh, you’re way cuter this way, you know that?” I
blinked, my attention turning to Jump-chan who I had walked in behind
me with the portal now closing.
“Where
are we?” I asked, the gvoice… strange, and foreign after two
decades of hearing Yellow’s, I mean, my voice. I had been tempted
to stay there, but curiosity was a thing.
“This?
This is your new home between homes. The Cosmic Warehouse.”
Explained Jump-chan as she walked up to the weird machine in the
center. “This is one of the first supplements ever created and one
that we Benefactors like to use unless the Jumper themselves decides
to take a Chainlong No Access Drawback.” Explained the deity as I
fI followed her to the device.
“The
Cosmic Warehouse will be where you store your belongings between
jumps and where you stay between them too. You can stay up to a week
of relative time before a new jump. And
while it’s currently empty, you can buy upgrades from the menu on
the terminal there.”
Explained Jump-chan as I looked at the small machine.
I
say small, because it was scaled for my current height which is a few
inches shorter than my original self in male form. Looking at the
offered options, I noticed 20 coins in 5 per coin values in the
return slot. “Those are your CP for this supplement, 100 CP to be
exact. You can exchange the reward CP you have stored up at a 10:1
ratio to get more if you want, so you pay 100 CP to gain 10 for the
supplement.” Explained Jump-chan and I nodded, that was simple
enough.
“Why
is it now different from last time?” I asked, curious because this
wasn’t anything like the way it had been when I had made my
frontloads and Pokémon
build.
“Keeping
those up would’ve been rather annoying to be honest, so I figured I
take a page out of a certain colleague of mine’s style book. That
terminal will from now on serve as your window into accessing
documents. By the way, you
currently have 5150 CP stored up.” Explained Jump-chan and I
blinked, not expecting that much.
But
regardless, I looked at the
options available and saw a conversion button in increments of 50. As
for the options, they weren’t that numerous technically, but they
ate of the low CP budget quite a bit. First up was Utilities, from
which I bought Heat/AC, Plumbing and Electricity to get those. This
cost a total of 30 CP already.
I
skipped
“Local Net” since my phone had that already for any world I’ve
visited so far, and “Gravity Link” was kinda pointless since I
had psychic powers and had a ton of Psychics in my bag. ForceWall,
for 20 CP, on the other hand was more than adequate but cut my total
CP in half.
Next
were structures. Shelving was for free and meant a large shelving
area was set up, but I needed neither Robots nor a Terminal. Housing,
Workshop and Medbay were much more along my lines of thinking but
they cost a total of 50 CP so I was down to 0 already. However, this
meant Warehouse attachments that would be very useful to have already
and I had banked CP to spend.
Next
was Misc and it had for one, Portal, which was 30 CP in cost but
would replace the key with the ability to open a portal into the
warehouse at will on a flat surface. A quick check confirmed that I
still got a key if I wanted to. So I deducted 300 CP from my account
for this. I skipped “Link” because I already had the Portal
Spell, so this was kinda pointless to have.
The
“Stasis Pod” option kinda sounded like forcing people to be
companions but Jump-chan said it was kinda a left-over of the
original idea, and that pretty much no one went with Stasis Pods for
recruitment and especially with “Housing” being an option.
Free
Space cost 30 CP but would double my warehouse’s space, which I
purchased
for 300 CP from my account, putting it down to 4550 CP. Food
Supply was another item, for only 10 CP, that would be useful. Though
it would have limited utility with the number of Pokémon
I had they didn’t experience hunger while in their Pokeballs at
least. Loft
and “Return”, which let me stack buildings on each other and
return t a world I had visited for another decade respectively.
With
this my banked CP were down to 4250 due to these two costing 10 and
20 CP respectively but that was about all I needed. The Hardsuit was
another thing that just didn’t make sense to buy for me since I had
psyuchic powers and all that.
Confirming
the purchases I watched as the Warehouse remodelled itself, growing
even larger in size with shelving in an orderly manner with access
doors in the walls. Additionally I noticed my stuff from the
frontloads being deposited in the shelves now, which was nice.
“Good,
now that we have this sorted out, there is one more thing.” Noted
Jump-chan as a large pod appeared. “This is the Body Mod pod, the
original model was by the same author as the Warehouse, but this is
the updated and superior version from the Spacebattles Forum’s
minds.” Explained Jump-chan and I decided I may as well.
The
terminal now showed the menu that I had to work with before entering
the pod. First up was some info, like that I couldn’t adjust the
settings without a certain option later, and that all powers I got
would work for all Alt-Forms. After this come the selection.
I
didn’t see a reason to change my gender, staying female so that was
free. Proportions I didn’t change either, just average height for
my age and my standard development. I got quite a bit taller when I
had grown up as Yellow, so I was hopeful. My hair, well, I didn’t
change that either. I
did
remove my bodyhair everywhere except my head and pubic hair, though
the latter I reduced for aesthetic reasons. This
cost 50 CP
Huh?
Why did I care for bodyhair? I don’t know if you remember but while
I now look 9 years old, I’m actually 29 years old in total, and
believe it or not, I wasn’t an adult only in appearance, so yes, I
went on dates and was active in other ways. Though I was also
careful with protection. With either gender, at that.
Quick
reminder, I have a boatload of 70 Pokémon
at
my disposal, each of them Pokémon
League
qualifiers and several of them with entries in the Hall of Fame of
different Regions. Don’t judge my sexuality.
Color
was next and I chose to keep my hair black and eyes green, with a bit
of a tan. I also removed my forehead scar, it was something I had as
long as I could remember but it was getting bothersome. I didn’t
even look at the notification about something and just confirmed
it.
The
Extra Bits section I looked over but that would’ve been nothing I
would have wanted there, so I skipped that one entirely.
The
Anomalous section after this was basically the Drawbacks, though only
one could be chosen and I really didn’t want people thinking I was
weird, so I didn’t take it. The
section after that was Affinity
and was basically the local version of Origin. It got me discounts
but
cost 100 CP to take. The affinities were “Body”, “Mind” and
“Heart”.
Body
was for physical boosts from the sound of it, such as strength,
speed, Endurance (as in stamina), Resilience and lastly Reflexes.
Mind
was for Logic, which was basically becoming more intelligent, Memory,
as in becoming better at remembering things, Resolve which was
basically determination and self-awareness, and finally Perception
for being better at knowing where you are.
Heart
on the other hand was for Charisma, Appeal, Flexibility (bad jump
doc), Empathy and lastly also your fertility. Because that’s safe
for work.
I
ultimately
went with Body because I had Mind pretty much covered already from my
frontloads and Heart was a bunch of stuff that I didn’t care that
much about. I’m not that
insecure, alright?
So,
next are the “Augments”. Which basically means what makes me even
stronger. I
also didn’t need to buy the full set prize by prize, I got the
highest I bought along with all lower-prized versions of the augment.
Additionally, the Augment Capstones were at 200 CP max prize without
discounts, meaning that with discount each was 100 CP only.
I
basically purchased all of the “Body” which gave me enough
lifting strength to lift 2 tons and the striking speed of a
professional Martial Artist. The Endurance Augment on the other meant
I
would also no longer feel the effects
of Sleep Deprivation and that I could go on endurance tests without
any issue, never tiring in the process.
Speed
augmented my running speed to 250 km/h or 155 mph, both on long and
short distance runs. Reflex
finally gave me hyper reflexes and even the ability to intercept a
bullet or two. I would also have the ability to react as if prepared
even when startled, which was a nice thing to have in my opinion.
After
that
I left the Body part of the augments and entered the Mind section,
with 350 native CP left. Well, before I went there I got to
Fertility. Why? Because F* the Period. F* my
libido.
Seriously, I fought against several apocalyptiic plots, but the worst
part is, and will always be, my period, because 70% of the time? I
wasn’t even near any facilities where I could help myself with a
tampon!
Anyway,
this little rant aside I also read
through the 100 and 200 CP options and stopped. That
would
be very
nice if I
ever had any offspring of my own. With the 100 CP option all of my
offspring would be born with no genetic errors, curses or malladies
they may inherit from me or the other parent. For 200 I could also
choose any perks, skills, items or physical attributes I had for them
to inherit if any.
Seeing
as I was a perfectly healthy human being and was quite literally able
to be a fertile member of either gender at will (Metamorphmagus), I
could even skip out on pregnancy if I wanted to have kids. And
I’m still Bi, so that’s not exactly the problem.
So,
I paid the 200 CP from my small account for the amenities this would
give me.
I
then went back to the Mind section of the augments and looked at
them. For Logic I thought about it and then decided that I may as
well pick the 50 CP option there, because that way I would still be
extremely smart even if my intelligence perks were nerfed.
Next
was Memory and the 100 CP perk pretty much was the most I needed, it
would give me eidetic memory as well as making me twice as fast at
learning things. This spent me out on base CP for the jump and left
me with my cache of banked reward CP from the last jump.
Going
down to the next item on the list I decided to buy the 50 CP Resolve
augment, which would give me an enhanced will to see what I’m doing
through and would basically make me able to work on things no matter
how boring they may be, which was a nice thing to have. 4200 CP left
banked.
Next
was coordination and, well, I definitely bought that in full. The
thing basically gav me perfect body control and crazy stuff like
running along walls (well within my speed capabilities) and
cushioning impossibly high falls with ease, along with full control
over my muscles which could only stack positively with my reflexes,
speed and strength overall. This left me with 4000 banked CP.
I
also purchased Perception at the 50 CP level, it would give me
enhanced senses but I didn’t need the higher levels I would assume.
I skipped Charisma to be honest but bought the 100 CP version of the
Appeal augment. Why? Because not getting dirty anymore and easily
getting clean again were things I could definitely use for myself.
3850 CP left.
I
skipped empathy, I had been suffering 20 years ago enough for eight
years, so I knew suffering and could detect it, no need for paying
even more CP for that. What I didn’t was Flexibility, as it would
just make me even crazier of a fighter with everything else I had in
my pocket. I bought the full 200 CP package there which brought me
down to 3650 CP.
With
that done I went to the final stretch which was “Powers” of which
the first section was “Shapeshifting”. This translated basically
to a number of perks that partained to shapeshifting of which the
first, Alt-Form Shift, was free. I also purchased “Combat
Shifting”, since it would allow me to quickly change forms and make
that a viable option too. My banked CP thus took a 200 CP dip to come
into the 3450 CP range.
After
this purchase come “Variability”, and while “Variable Form”
sounded interesting, “Coalescence” was definitely more so. It let
me combine different alt-forms allowing me to basically combine
Alt-Forms to gain benefits of them all combined. That was 300 CP in
cost and brought me down to 3150 CP.
I
didn’t take Permanence powers, while of them were neat, I didn’t
want to spend CP on them.
That
brought me to Adaptability which had a free power: Ascension, this
would allow me to bring my augments to maximum by work alone and take
that into Gauntlets or power restricted jumps. I bagged it. The
second-to-last part was “quality of life” and had perks that
basically gave skills useful for everyday life. There were four in
total, 50 CP for each.
They
were basically “Life Skills”, which were everyday life skills and
abilities, “Survival Skills” which was exactly what the tin says
it was. Then there was “Waste Not”, which basically removed any
need for… uh, waste products. Let’s leave it at that. And finally
there was “Want Not”, which meant I could survive on far less
food and basically would never suffer from malnoutrishment of any
sort.
This
total cost of 200 CP brought me down to 2950 CP in my banked reward
CP, still almost three times the normal CP amount I would have. The
last part was Gag Powers and Incentives, which were free perks of
sorts. They were a “Took the Bodymod after at least one jump”
perk, allowing me to summon a kinda weird but high-quality and
perfectly mundane t-shirt, a perk that would have made full-prize
augments free, one for each “Gauntlet” completed before the use
of this supplement, and a training augmentation for when you paid 500
CP or more on augments, doubling all training results.
Do
I have to mention which ones I basically took because it’s the best
I can do?
As
soon as I pressed confirm I briefly buffed out, feeling all my
muscles condensing and becoming, quite frankly, insane. I imagine
this was how people who took Super Soldier Serums felt like. My mind
also gained a new degree of sharpness to it that augmented my already
high intelligence.
However,
after a second of this buffer me, I returned to my previous, small
and cute nine years old form. I had a feeling this was Jump-chan
telling me what she prefers me to be in terms of age. I’m,
technically, 29 years old by this point lady.
Anyway,
I turned to Jump-chan who had, I think, brought that comfortable
looking couch in by herself, I haven’t seen it before so yeah.
“Nice choices, and you barely spent 50% of your available CP there,
nice.” Noted Jump-chan with a smirk and I nodded, I hadn’t
exactly been neglecting any of my weaker points. “So, I decided to
be nice and add a little rule to this chain, you will like it. I call
it the [Mail Order (Alt)] House Rule. It was conceived by someone in
another world and is an altered version of another house rule my kind
likes to use, but it will do.” She stated before giving me a small
page of paper with writing on it.
Jumper may choose, once per 10 years, 1 Jump Document that hasn't been visited before. From this document, the Jumper may purchase up to 3 Perks and/or Items using current CP at full prize, but the items may not exceed 600 CP in cost and may not be any form of freebie from a Dragonball-related Jump, nor be any perks or items that would bring the Jumper's power to Moon-Destroying levels.
Previously Visited Jumps or Frontload documents may be perused without these restrictions but the same rules.
Exception: Anything even remotely close to Black Light Virus is too powerful to be gotten without entering that jump. If it would be beyond game breaking with no hard limit on uses per time frame, it is too OP for this nerfed version of Mail Order. Also, Jump-chan wants to mention that the delivery company who is doing these deliveries refuses to ship bio-hazard objects or abilities, so no buying a pandemic virus of any sort or abilities based on them. Companion purchases are also off the menu. Buying Followers is still possible.
Exception 2: You can buy a Space Marine Chapter from the WH40k Adeptus Astartes jump, but they will be only 1/10th their full strength in numbers, and may be purchased for 600 CP with an extra fee of 200 CP being optional to apply the Primaris Marine DLC to the purchase.
I stared at this, then stared some more.
“Umm… how would I use that? I don’t know any of these documents other than the ones you gave me already.” I asked, confused because I didn’t know much of anything about this beyond what Jump-chan had told and shown me. Not exactly my fault, to be fair, but still.
“Ah, sorry. Sometimes I forget you didn’t have access to the SB or TG drives to look them up.” Stated Jump-chan before snapping her fingers, which I’m pretty sure was just for fun, and my mind was flooded with information. Thank Arceus for perfect memory.
I now had knowledge of every jump doc in current existence it seemed, or at least from the stacks Jump-chan was using. “Well then, there we go. Now you can properly choose. Mind you, I will still choose your next location.” Stated Jump-chan and then she… popped away. Okay.
I chose that point to let my team and assorted Pokémon out of their Pokeballs for them to explore the area. I had already told them all that I would change forms when I would let them out next, as well as explaining the whole situation I was in. Chuchu found it, obviously, funny that I was now back to being younger than I had been when we set out but went to explore the warehouse instead.
I sat down before the machine and thought about what I would Mail Order.
Well, for starters I could only choose one setting I hadn’t visited before to have up to three purchases from, with a maximum of 600 CP, no free perks or items, and nothing world breaking. This basically threw out Cityship, an item in what was described as the “Stargate Atlantis” jump, I didn’t know anything about the franchise, I was just aware of the general items and stuff you could get there.
After a moment I decided that I would buy a single object that would have at least a lot of utility to me. Using my mental gymnastics skills, and yes I will refer to them as such, I quickly narrowed it down to a handful of perks and items. There was the 400 CP perk “Growth Cheat” from the Generic Isekai Jump from Reddit, which was a net times 400 multiplier for your growth in any ways. For me that would be a times 800 due to my Bodymod. Yikes.
There was also Konami Code from the Wreck it Ralph jump, which was from the Spacebattles jump collection. It would let me use a door in my warehouse to access, once per year, the “Code” of the universe to make some cheat change that I normally wouldn’t be able to do but would fit in that world. So, for example, maxing out the stats of all my Pokémon, or increasing my statistics. Though it was one change per use so I would be able to make ten changes per jump.
Ultimately I decided to go with Konami Code, it cost 600 CP but it had the most options and potential of the two options. I could’ve tried getting something else, but 600 CP was already quite a lot of CP and I wanted to make sure I had reserves.
As I confirmed this would be all I saw the mentioned door appear in the wall on one side of the warehouse. Additionally, a document opened itself on the machine.
“InFamous? Sponsored by Jump-chan, chosen by the Community? What community?” I asked, confused. Was there a poll on my destination or something and I wasn’t told? Well, probably yes. Looking at the document it was another one made by Quicksilver, it wasn’t hard to tell since the guy made a huge effort out of making these documents in a image format loaded into a .pdf document.
The intro stated that a small subset of the population had superpowers, these people were called Conduits and the outbreak of their existence occurred seven years before the jump. Government tried making supersoldiers, it went south and now the agency responsible is gone but the military still has a presence in many locations. And I would be a conduit, if I wanted to or not. I also got the normal 1000 CP which was dispensed as 50 CP coins.
First was location, which normally would be rolled, but I had my benefits so I just chose the safest of the bunch, #1: Seattle since it seemed to be the easiest.
Next were age, gender and Origin. For age I decided to take my Origin first and decided to eat the 100 CP cost for Student, having an actual education up to college level would be good. For my age I chose to be 18 years old and not to change my gender.
The next option was Conduit-type which was Smoke, aka fire, Neon, which was artificial lighting and light manipulation, Video that got it’s power from sources of video imagery and sounded like pseudo illusion, Cryokinesis, that refills from any source of cold such as liquid water, Electrokinesis, which is what it sounds like but also has healing powers, and Concrete that basically recharges on rock and does rock stuff.
I went with Cryokinesis, it’s one of the more useful and easy to recharge powers. Not that I planned on showing it off around here, I could just lay low after all.
Next were the perks, which were 12 in number from the looks of it, in groups of 4. The student freebie was Stamina which… I already had. So nope. Instead I took Regen, the Prisoner Freebie as it was a healing factor. There was also Toggle, the 300 CP perk of the Drifter Origin, which was Drop-In basically. I bought it as I could toggle my Conduit powers off with it, good for keeping a low profile.
Next was the Student 300 CP perk, which was focus, which would accelerate my perception so that things around me would appear to slow down to 10%. Or at least that’s what I assume it did since it’s literal wording sounded as if it would make me slow down to 10% perception speed and thus would make me much slower to react than normally, which would suck.
Then I took Autocharge, the capstone for the Student Origin, which would let me recharge without a source over time. This would be handy to have. It was, naturally, 300 CP. This left me with 50 CP to spend but I didn’t need anything from the other perks nor did I want to dip into my other reserves.
I then looked at Items, nothing interesting really as I had most of it already, including a laptop and cellphone. I ultimately chose to take “Light Body Armor”, which was a light kevlar armor, and call it a day as it cost 50 CP. This brought me 200 CP over the limit over all but I had my ways. I took Disabled as a drawback, as I didn’t want to do this as a action jump anyway and I had ways to circumvent it somewhat.
I considered for a moment, looking at the house rules and lack of import options, then decided to get two simple drawbacks that would let me get 200 CP to import whoever wanted to.
I took Leaked and Shorted, meaning that I would have a much smaller pool of energy to draw on and lose conduit energy over time. These were both worth 100 CP each so now I could import whoever would like to have a go at being human.
“Hey Chuchu, want to become human with some extra powers?” I asked my little mouse friend who blinked at me.
“Uh, okay?” She asked, clearly a bit confused but that was alright, at least the Devon Translation Device was now perfected after seven years of work on it.
Going around, asking the others, Mi agreed, though wanted to be my little sister in the jump, Amy wanted in as well, Piske was also interested and Storm claimed I couldn’t go anywhere without her, because I got into too much trouble when I did. Also, Bianca decided to go in as well. That was six Companions slotted in already.
The rest had no interest to go apparently.
Each member of this team went with some kinda build that was kinda hard to follow for me. Chuchu went with Student and made herself my classmate, also best friend and the one who helps me with my wheelchair which I will have. She took Electrokinesis as her conduit power, little battery she is, and her perks are Stamina, Regen, Toggle and Focus. Her item choices are the Phone, Laptop, Conductor Weapon, for which she chose a quarterstaff, and Light Body Armor.
Piske on the other hand went with Drifter and Smoke. His perk choices are Strength, Durability, Toggle and Focus. As for items, he took Hypervisor, phone, Safe House, and Light Body Armor.
As for Storm, she went with Soldier and insisted on being assigned as the in-jump mother of mine, and Mi by extension. Her power was Smoke as well, she had been looking up to Ho Oh quite a bit, and her perks were Regen, Subdue, Durability and Transfer. As for items, she took Bug-Out Kit, Light Body Armor and a M16A4 Assault Rifle from the document. Pretty soldier-like I guess.
Mi on the other hand followed me in the student Origin, though she set her age to 14 to be my younger sister and roughly in Middle School. Since she lacked an education I couldn’t blame her for wanting a crash course in school but not too far. Her chosen Conduit type was Cryokinesis and she took the perks Stamina, Focus and Autocharge. Her items were phone, laptop, an expanded Bag, Bioconverter and Light Body Armor.
Amy joined Piske as a Drifter with Neon as her type. Don’t ask me why. Her perk choices were Strength, Toggle and Energy Form while she picked the items were Safe House, Hardened Phone, Hypervisor, a gun and Light Body Armor.
Bianca on the other hand, and don’t ask me why, went with Prisoner, which was the Origin that gave you a background of having been captured and experimented on. It was a rather traumatic Origin in my opinion. As for Conduit Type, she went with Electrokinesis, and her perks were Regen, Toggle and Analytics while her items were the bag, Biocapacitor, Biocoverter and the armor.
And that’s our merry band of weirdos for you. I could naturally call on any of my non-imported Pokémon, they just didn’t want to import into this world. I could understand that perfectly well.
With our builds complete I decided we would stay for the full week here and in that time I begun to study as much as I could, both of the timelord technology I had and naturally my magic books. I also practiced with the latter to be able to use them easily, while also working on some minor inventions for the former.
This would be an odd ten years, being crippled and all.
